ICT Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam shares a hopeful vision
Youth Will Lead Global Tech Market as Innovators, Not Just Consumers
In the era of digital transformation, youth must drive job creation through innovation. ICT Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam shares a hopeful vision at the Dhaka University startup event.
We are currently standing at a historic turning point where information technology is not merely a sector, but the prime driving force behind the digital transformation of our economy, education, healthcare, agriculture, and industry. Harnessing this power, the youth of our country will utilize their knowledge and intellect to build innovative enterprises. Rather than chasing after jobs, they will create new avenues of employment. They will not remain mere consumers in the global tech market; they will be crowned as innovators of new technologies."
Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam expressed these high hopes on Tuesday (July 14) during his speech at a special program titled "Tarunno, Startup o Sombhabonar Bangladesh" (Youth, Startup, and the Bangladesh of Potential) held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
During the ceremony, grants were handed over to representatives of six selected startups, and the National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform was officially launched. Alongside the Minister and the Advisor, the Prime Minister presented dummy checks of BDT 10 lakh each to the entrepreneurs of startups including green-tech startups `Banova Biometrials' & 'Buzz Shield'; health-tech `Neo-Saver'; ed-tech startups 'Chorcha' and 'Correct'; 'Interview Vubs AI; and fashion-tech `Rafiha Fashion House'.
In the latter part of his speech as a special guest, Fakir Mahbub Anam drew the Prime Minister's attention to the innovations of young entrepreneurs from Daffodil University, stating, "They have come up with such beautiful innovations. If only we could help each and every one of these boys and girls... For this, we must step forward and assist them. Since the government has stepped up, I hope they will be able to generate new employment opportunities with this support. This indestructible force of youth will become the catalyst for technological prosperity in the glorious culture of Bangladesh."
"Today’s event is not just a mere formality to me; it marks the beginning of our promising future Bangladesh," added Fakir Mahbub Anam. He further remarked, "This initiative clearly demonstrates that the young generation of our country lies at the absolute center of our government's overall development plan."
The introductory remarks of the event were delivered by the Acting Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division, Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, while the welcome address was given by Professor Dr. Md. Morshed Hasan Khan from the Department of Marketing, Dhaka University. The Prime Minister's Advisor on Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Rehan Asif Asad, also spoke as a special guest.
