In a bid to strengthen professional networking, collaboration and leadership among young engineers and officials working across Bangladesh's state-owned energy companies, the Petro Companies Youth Association (PCYA) organized the country's first-ever "Inter-Company Friendly Futsal Tournament-2026."

The day-long tournament was held on Saturday at the central playground of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), bringing together teams from 10 companies under Petrobangla, representing the organization's network of 13 affiliated companies.

In the final match, Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) emerged as champions, while Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) finished as runners-up.

The closing ceremony was attended by Engineer Md. Helal Uddin Talukdar, Chairman of the Dhaka Centre of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), as the chief guest. Engineer Muhammad Ahsanul Russell, Honorary Assistant Secretary (Administration & Finance) of IEB, joined as the special guest.

The event was presided over by Engineer Mir Mobarak Hossain, President of PCYA.

Presidents and general secretaries of Officers' Associations, Youth Associations and Engineers' Associations from Petrobangla's 13 companies, along with senior officials and engineers, also attended the programme.

The competition featured group-stage matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the championship final. Winners and runners-up received trophies, while outstanding performers were recognized with individual awards.

According to the organizers, the initiative aims to foster stronger professional relationships, teamwork, leadership and collaboration among the next generation of engineers working in Bangladesh's energy sector.

They noted that as the country's energy industry undergoes rapid digital transformation and technological modernization, stronger cross-company cooperation among young professionals will play an important role in improving innovation, operational efficiency and knowledge sharing.

The event was coordinated by PCYA General Secretary Engineer Md. Rafiur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Engineer Md. Jahin Amir Khan, Organizing Secretary Engineer Mohammad Jakirul Islam Sohel, Office Secretary Md. Abdur Razzak, Publication and Publicity Secretary Abdullah Tarek, along with other members of the association.
