Bangladeshi Students Win 60 International Awards in Science & English World Summit
In a historic achievement for Bangladesh on the global stage, Bangladeshi students have clinched a staggering 60 international awards at the International World Summit 2026 held in Malaysia. Led by the International Olympiads Bangladesh (IOB), an 18-member delegation participated in the prestigious English World Cup and Science Olympiad, showcasing the country's immense potential in science, technology, and research.
The incredible haul for Bangladesh includes 27 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, 3 Platinum Awards, 2 Diamond Awards, and 9 International Rankings. Demonstrating exceptional prowess in scientific experimentation and research, the team also bagged 4 Dean Awards, 4 Kazakhstan Special Awards, 4 Best Presentation/Best Experimental Scientist Awards, 1 Judges' Choice Award, 1 Malaysia Special Award, and 1 highly coveted 'Science President Award'. Out of the 18 participants, 17 won at least one international accolade.
The spotlight of the event was captured by Mohammad Arham Johan, a student of Anandaniketan School and College, Sylhet, who became the top performer for Bangladesh by winning a record 13 awards. His scientific achievements include Gold, Platinum, International Ranking-2, Dean Award, Best Experimental Scientist, and the Kazakhstan Special Award. Following closely, Aniruddha Niladri Biswas from SFX Greenherald International School achieved the second-highest success with 11 international awards, including Gold, Platinum, International Ranking-3, Dean Award, and the prestigious 'Science President Award' in the science category.
Other notable gold medalists in Science include Ahnaf Tazwar, Maymanah Jannat Rahman, Monzur Arsh Ahsan, Md. Zaim Hasan, Jahin Abdullah, Jarir Ayan Amin, Nazia Zarin, Araf Rahman, Sarfraz Mahmud Ruayfee, and Fairuz Binte Zakaria. Meanwhile, Md. Wakif Ullah Ismam, Most. Miftahul Jannat, and Prantik Devshorma Pinak secured Silver Medals in the science categories.
Beyond the competition, the young innovators engaged in an educational tour visiting top institutions like the University of Cyberjaya, University Technology Malaysia, Malaysia National Museum, and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. This tour provided them with hands-on exposure to global scientific research, advanced technology, and cultural exchange.
Reflecting on this monumental success, Kamruzzaman Nishan, Founder and Managing Director of IOB, stated, "Bangladeshi students have left a brilliant mark of their merit, creativity, and research-based skills at the international level. This success will inspire them to march forward on the global stage with absolute confidence."
