Five Financial Bodies Honoured for Digital Innovation
Five financial bodies under Financial Institutions Division (FID) have been recognised as the country's best innovative institutions across five categories for their technology-driven initiatives and efforts to simplify public services. The awards were presented at the Innovation Showcasing 2025–26 programme held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Finance Division
Five departments and agencies under Bangladesh's Financial Institutions Division (FID) have been recognised as the country's best innovative institutions across five categories for their technology-driven initiatives and efforts to simplify public services.
The awards were presented on Monday, 6 July, at the Innovation Showcasing 2025–26 programme held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Finance Division at the Secretariat. Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, attending as the chief guest, handed over crests to the heads of the winning institutions.
The awards recognised outstanding contributions by organisations under the Financial Institutions Division in delivering digital services, implementing technology-based initiatives, and improving service quality.
In the State-Owned Commercial Bank category, Janata Bank PLC received the award for its Janata-Pay (Janata Payment Gateway) service, which was recognised for facilitating secure and convenient digital transactions.
In the State-Owned Specialised Bank category, Probashi Kallyan Bank was honoured for introducing its e-Migration Loan Processing Service (eMLPS). The initiative was selected for simplifying and accelerating the online application and processing of migration loans.
In the Regulatory Authority category, the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) received the award for its Insurance Mobile App, which enables customers to access insurance-related information and services more conveniently.
In the Non-Bank Financial Institution category, the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) was recognised for its Document Return Process Automation initiative. The programme has made the return of customer documents faster, more transparent, and more efficient.
Meanwhile, in the Other Institutions category, the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) received the award for its GIS-Based Supervision and Monitoring System. According to the organisers, the GIS-enabled platform has significantly enhanced project implementation oversight and the monitoring of field-level activities.
Speakers at the event said there is no alternative to technology-driven innovation in making government services simpler, more transparent, and more citizen-friendly. They noted that such initiatives not only improve service quality but also play a vital role in reducing public inconvenience.
