International School Dhaka (ISD) is set to launch a special educational program on robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) for students from grades four to twelve for the third consecutive year, starting on February 14. The learning initiative is aligned with the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy curriculum. Classes will be held every Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, with each 90-minute session combining theoretical instruction with hands-on practical experience.

Speaking about the program, ISD Director Steve Colland-Scoble said, “The global economy is rapidly moving toward artificial intelligence and design thinking. If students begin learning robotics and AI from an early age, they will be able to acquire the skills necessary to succeed in this technology-driven world.”

George Carrington, a trainer of the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Training Program at ISD, said, “Through this program, students are not only learning how to build robots, but are also developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It helps them understand the connection between robotics, AI and real-life applications, while also preparing them for future challenges and opportunities.”

Sharing her experience of the program, ISD Grade 12 student Rania Ahmed said, “This training has taught us to think in new ways. We learned robot coding, and also gained skills in problem-solving and teamwork.”

According to program details, students of grades four and five can participate in the beginner-level LEGO Robotics program at a fee of Tk 15,000, where they will learn LEGO robot design and coding. Students of grades six and seven can enroll in the intermediate-level VEX IQ program at a fee of Tk 20,000. For students from grades eight to ten, an advanced-intermediate VEX EXP program will be offered at a fee of Tk 20,000, where participants will build autonomous robots and apply real-time data and feedback systems. Students of grades eleven and twelve can take part in the advanced-level VEX V5 and REV Robotics program at a fee of Tk 25,000. This program will introduce professional-grade robotics and electronics, along with AI concepts such as adaptive control and data-driven behavior.

Upon successful completion of the program, all participating students will receive certificates from the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy (CMRA).
