Apple enthusiasts may have something to look forward to, as speculation continues to grow that the company could move away from its traditional September launch schedule for parts of its next iPhone lineup. While the highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a new iPhone Ultra are expected to debut later this year, the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the next-generation iPhone Air are reportedly set for release in spring 2027.

Although Apple has not made any official announcement, leaked renders of the second-generation iPhone Air 2 have already surfaced online, suggesting the device will feature a redesigned camera system and a more powerful processor.

Leaked Design Points to Dual Rear Cameras

In a recent video published by the popular YouTube channel Front Page Tech, tech commentator and leaker Jon Prosser showcased several renders of the iPhone Air 2. According to Prosser, the images are based on reliable information obtained from Apple's chip and component supply chain.

He claims Apple is addressing one of the biggest shortcomings of the original iPhone Air by introducing a second rear camera.

The first-generation iPhone Air, launched in September 2025, featured only a single 48-megapixel Fusion main camera. However, the leaked renders indicate a significantly redesigned camera module with two horizontally aligned sensors. The setup is expected to include a 48-megapixel primary camera alongside a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.

Prosser also suggested that Apple may redesign parts of its Face ID system internally to accommodate the additional camera hardware while preserving the phone's slim profile.

The device is expected to be powered by Apple's latest 2-nanometre A20 or A20 Pro chipset. Like its predecessor, it is also expected to feature a premium titanium chassis.

Regarding pricing, Prosser echoed earlier projections from financial services firm J.P. Morgan, suggesting that the next-generation iPhone lineup could see a price increase of at least US$50 compared with current models. Other reports, however, claim the increase could be as much as US$300, depending on the model.

Based on previous leaks, the iPhone Air 2 is also expected to feature a 6.55-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. If launched alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in early 2027, the device is expected to appeal strongly to buyers seeking a balance between premium features and affordability.
