The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has opened the online submission process for research project proposals, allowing all faculty members of public universities to apply. Interested teachers must complete the designated form on the UGC website and submit their applications online by July 16.

In a circular issued on June 19 (Thursday), the UGC announced financial assistance for public university teachers to support basic research projects. According to the notice, each selected researcher may receive between BDT 260,000 and BDT 300,000 in funding. However, a PhD degree is mandatory for lecturers to be eligible for the grant.

The commission also clarified that researchers currently involved in ongoing UGC-funded projects are not eligible to apply until their existing projects are completed. Additionally, applicants may not submit proposals in multiple categories. However, a researcher may participate as a co-investigator in another project, provided they are not the lead investigator.

Faculty members from Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business Studies will be eligible for a grant of BDT 260,000, while those from Science and Technology disciplines may receive up to BDT 300,000.

The commission emphasized that recipients of the research grant must strictly adhere to UGC’s terms and conditions regarding the expenditure and implementation of the funded projects. Further information on the application process and eligibility criteria can be found on the UGC website at www.ugc.gov.bd.
