CUET Hosts National High School Programming Contest 2026
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology organized the ‘National High School Programming Contest 2026’. The competition, jointly supported by the ICT Division and the Bangladesh Computer Council, was held on the CUET campus on Saturday (16 May).
The closing ceremony of the competition took place at CUET’s central auditorium. The chief guest was Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya. Special guests included Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain and CSE Department Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. Bangladesh Computer Council Regional Director Engineer Shah Newaz Chowdhury attended as an invited guest.
The program was chaired by CSE Department Head Professor Dr. Pronob Kumar Dhar, while competition coordinator Shihab Zishan conducted the event.
Earlier in the morning, the competition was inaugurated by Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Dean Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain.
Alongside the programming contest, organizers also arranged the Cyber Security Olympiad 2026, a quiz competition marking Safe Internet Day, and a technology-based seminar. The keynote speaker at the seminar was CSE Department Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin. Professor Dr. Kaushik Dev and District IT Officer Shimul Bhowmik participated as discussants.
Organizers said students from various schools in the districts of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, and Khagrachhari took part in the competition. They expressed hope that the initiative would play an important role in increasing young students’ interest in programming and cybersecurity.
The National Cyber Security Agency served as a supporting organizer of the event.
