The e-Bail Bond (online submission of bail bonds) system has been launched in seven districts, including Bogura. Through this “e-Bail Bond” system, the prolonged delays and hardships associated with post-bail release from prison will be resolved, commented Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He said, “We seek not only technological advancement but also a transformation in mindset. We want to build a Bangladesh where there will be no distinction in the justice system between the Prime Minister or a minister, a police officer or an official, and an ordinary citizen. The justice system will be fully independent and a unique foundation for the establishment of justice.
“We believe in access to justice for all. Justice is not a matter of charity or compassion; it is a constitutional right of every citizen. Today’s digital initiative is a major milestone toward ensuring that right.”
He made these remarks on Monday, April 20, at noon while inaugurating the e-Bail Bond system at the Bogura District Court. At around 10:45 am, he formally launched the service by pressing a switch at the conference room of the Bogura District and Sessions Judge’s Court. The service was simultaneously introduced in Bogura, Rajshahi, Natore, Jhenaidah, Jashore, Magura, and Kushtia.
Earlier, the system had been launched in nine districts—Narayanganj, Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi, and Sherpur—as part of the judiciary’s digital transformation initiative.
Notably, under the e-Bail Bond system, once a judge signs the bail order, the bail bond will be automatically transmitted to the concerned prison. As a result, a detained person will be released within a few hours or at most within one day. Unnecessary intermediate steps will be eliminated. Moreover, records of who signs and when will be stored in a database, ensuring full transparency and accountability. Litigants will be freed from unnecessary time loss, financial burden, and mental distress. The system will also reduce travel costs for the accused and their families, while lowering unnecessary government prison expenses.
