ISPAB Leaders Invite Telecom & ICT Minister
Broadband Expo 2026 Set for April 13–15 in Dhaka
The ‘Broadband Expo-2026’ is set to take place from 13–15 April at China Friendship Conference Center in the capital, with the schedule slightly shifted from its previously proposed dates. Organized by the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), the expo aims to create new milestones in services such as telemedicine, e-education, surveillance, and home security systems centered around broadband internet services.
On Sunday, 29 March, the first working day after Eid, ISPAB leaders visited the Secretariat to invite Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT and Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam as the chief guest of the event. During the visit, they also extended invitations to the Secretary and other senior officials to participate in the expo.
According to sources, alongside extending the invitation, ISPAB representatives held a meeting with the minister and raised demands from general members regarding licensing guidelines and active sharing. They elaborated on conflicting aspects of the new licensing policy, including the requirement of approvals from six ministries for obtaining licenses, and issues related to divisional ISPs, IIG, and other matters.
ISPAB President Aminul Hakim and General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan led the delegation, with other members of the ISPAB Executive Committee also present.
