He stated that, marking Independence Day, the Coast Guard made several ships accessible to the general public from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in different areas. These included ‘BCGS Kutubdia’ (BIWTA VIP Ghat, Chandpur), ‘BCGS Setgang’ (BCG Base Kashipur Pontoon, Narayanganj), ‘BCGS Tajuddin’ (No. 15 Ghat, Patenga), ‘BCGS Shyamal Bangla’ (BCG Base Chattogram, Icha Nagar), ‘BCGS Kamruzzaman’ (Digraj, Mongla), and ‘BCGS Touhid’ (Rupsa, Khulna).
Lieutenant Commander Sujan said that a significant number of men and women from the respective areas and surrounding localities visited the ships. This provided an opportunity for the general public to learn about Coast Guard vessels and related operational aspects.
He further added that, during the visits, responsible officers and sailors responded to the curiosity and various questions of visitors regarding the ships. Visitors were able to learn about deep-sea operations, coastal and riverine patrol duties, rescue and search operations, prevention of illegal intrusion and smuggling, suppression of piracy, protection of fisheries and natural resources, and naval tactics—highlighting the positive role of the Coast Guard.
