Apple has unveiled a new addition to its affordable iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17e. In an announcement on Monday (2 March), the company said that, similar to last year’s iPhone 16e, the new model has been priced at $599. However, the storage capacity has been doubled to 256GB, and a new pink color option has been introduced, according to Engadget.

The iPhone 17e is powered by Apple’s A19 chip, which is also used in the base iPhone 17 model. As a result, it will support the Apple Intelligence AI tool suite. The most significant addition is MagSafe charging, which supports 15W wireless charging—an upgrade from the 7.5W available in the previous model.

The phone features Apple’s new C1X cellular modem, which the company claims is twice as fast as the C1 modem used in the iPhone 16e. It comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says offers three times better scratch resistance and reduced glare compared to the previous generation.

The 48-megapixel Fusion camera provides two camera pipelines using a single hardware sensor, enabling optical-quality 2x telephoto capability. The device carries an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water.

In emergency situations, users will have access to Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My services via satellite connectivity. Apple stated that the C1X modem and the advanced power management features of iOS 26 will deliver all-day battery life.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e will begin on 4 March, and the device will be available in stores from 11 March. In addition, Apple has unveiled the new iPad Air M4 and is expected to announce a new MacBook at an event in New York on 4 March this week.
