The undergraduate first-year admission test for the 2025–26 academic session of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will be held on Thursday, January 22. The examination will take place simultaneously at two centres—Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and RUET—from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.

A total of 19,920 applicants will compete for 1,235 seats, meaning that nearly 15 candidates will vie for each seat.

According to university administration sources, a total of 400 marks will be allocated for the admission test for both ‘Ka’ and ‘Kha’ groups. In addition, candidates of the ‘Kha’ group—covering Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning (URP), and Architecture—will have to sit for an extra 200-mark examination on freehand drawing and visual and spatial aptitude. This additional test will be held only at the RUET centre from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm. The university has already published the roll numbers, examination centres, and seat plans for candidates on its official website.

To sit for the examination, candidates must carry their original Higher Secondary registration card along with a photocopy, the admission test admit card, and, for candidates applying under the small ethnic group quota, an attested photocopy of the certificate issued by the respective community head. No electronic devices other than approved calculators will be allowed inside the examination hall.

Regarding preparations, RUET Director of Student Welfare Professor Dr Md Rabiul Islam Sarkar said that all necessary arrangements have been completed and that law enforcement agencies will remain on active duty. He added that admission tests are being conducted at both RUET and BUET centres this year to reduce inconvenience for candidates and their guardians.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr S M Abdur Razzak stated that all preparations have been finalized to ensure the smooth conduct of the admission test. He also noted that comprehensive measures have been taken to prevent any form of malpractice related to the examination.
