BNP Warns of ‘Cyber War Defeat’ Amid Ongoing Smear Campaigns

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that a smear campaign is being carried out against the BNP, warning that “if we lose the cyber war, we will face defeat.”

He expressed this concern while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the week-long programme titled “BNP’s Plan for Nation Building,” held on Sunday, 7 December, at the Krishibid Institute in Khamarbari.

Mirza Fakhrul said that an attempt is being made to create a major division in Bangladesh in a planned manner. “A vested quarter is creating division in the name of religion,” he noted. He said the establishment of good governance is essential to move the country forward with thoughtful planning. However, over the past decade and a half, the Awami League has undermined not only democracy but also the independence of state institutions. The BNP aims to rebuild all institutions with public support and establish a genuinely democratic state system.

“We certainly believe in religion and practise it,” he said. “But we do not believe in any idea that divides the state or society on the basis of religion. Bangladesh is a country of equal rights and coexistence for people of all faiths—the fundamental spirit of the 1971 Liberation War was also a Bangladesh for all.”

He further stated that over the past 15 years, the Awami League has destroyed all state institutions through “misrule and fascist behaviour.” Therefore, to restore democracy and return the rights of the people, it has become essential to restructure these institutions anew.
