TikTok Rolls Out New ‘Time and Well-Being’ Tools to Promote Healthier Digital Habits
TikTok has introduced a new Time and Well-Being feature for its users. The update brings multiple tools designed to help users develop mindful digital habits. This initiative further strengthens TikTok’s commitment to creating a positive and balanced online experience.
Prioritizing safety and community guidelines, TikTok launched this new feature, which makes it easier for the community to take breaks when needed. Replacing the previous screen-time management tools, the new update includes several additions:
-
Users can download or share more than 120 affirmation cards to set daily intentions.
-
A sound generator provides calming sounds such as rain, waves, and white noise.
-
A breathing exercise tool offers a variety of guided breathing routines.
Alongside the Time and Well-Being feature, TikTok has introduced four new well-being missions. Designed to help build long-term mindful digital habits, these missions are simple, engaging, and accessible for everyone.
Examples include:
-
An eight-week Sleep Hours Mission that progresses through a virtual “well-being tree.”
-
A Daily Screen Time Badge for staying within set limits.
-
A Weekly Screen Time Report Mission to review time spent on the platform.
-
A Well-Being Ambassador Mission that encourages users to motivate others to use these features.
These missions were developed based on insights from Digital Wellness Lab, TikTok’s internal research, and recommendations from its Youth Council. Studies show that two-thirds of teenagers find digital time-management tools helpful.
To help users maintain healthy tech usage and mental well-being, TikTok has added these tools to the platform—emphasizing not just entertainment, but the overall wellness of its community.
