Four More Die of Dengue in 24 Hours; 745 Hospitalized Nationwide

Four more people died of dengue in the 24 hours between Wednesday 8 a.m. and Thursday 8 a.m. During this period, 745 patients were admitted to hospitals.

The information was released in a press statement issued on Thursday, November 20, by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the statement, among the 745 new dengue hospital admissions in the past 24 hours:

  • Barishal Division: 125

  • Chattogram Division: 89

  • Dhaka Division (outside city corporation): 154

  • Dhaka North City Corporation: 116

  • Dhaka South City Corporation: 127

  • Khulna Division (outside city corporation): 32

  • Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation): 53

  • Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation): 48

  • Sylhet Division (outside city corporation): 1

Meanwhile, 697 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals within the same 24-hour period, bringing the total number of discharged patients this year to 85,267.

From January to date, a total of 88,457 patients have been hospitalized due to dengue. So far, 353 people have died this year.

For context, in 2024 (January 1–December 31), a total of 101,214 patients were admitted due to dengue, with 575 deaths. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with 321,179 hospital admissions.
