BUET Batch Begins BSCL Satellite Skills Training
Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has begun providing hands-on training on satellite technologies to six students from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as part of their industrial attachment programme. The seven-day apprenticeship, running till 17 November, is being conducted under BSCL’s Technical, Research and Planning and Operations wings. During the programme, the students will gain practical exposure to BSCL’s satellite operations, network controlling, and system monitoring activities.
For the first three days, the trainees are attending sessions at BSCL’s headquarters, followed by two days of practical training at the Primary Ground Station in Gazipur. At the headquarters, training is being conducted by Assistant General Manager S. M. Anwarul Aziz and Manager Touhidul Islam.
At the ground station, the trainees will be guided by Deputy General Manager (Operations) Bakhtiar Ahmed, Senior Manager Md. Saikh Salman, and Manager Md. Samaun Sobhan.
Throughout the attachment period, the BUET students will observe operations directly and receive hands-on instruction at BSCL’s Satellite Operating and Controlling Center (SOCC). This will help them acquire practical knowledge of national satellite communication infrastructure, transponder management, and network operation systems.
After the headquarters-based sessions, BSCL’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Imadur Rahman, spoke with the students. He emphasized the importance of gaining in-depth technological expertise and encouraged them to apply this experience in their future professional careers.
He further stated, “As a government company, while we prioritize business, we also aim to gradually build self-reliance in the satellite industry by creating opportunities for young professionals.”
BSCL regularly arranges such industrial attachments to equip the country’s future engineers with practical training and real-world experience.
