A landmark agreement has been signed between Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) and the Khagrachhari Hill District Council to open a new horizon for digital education among students in the hilly region of Khagrachhari. Under this agreement, e-learning systems will be gradually introduced in primary and secondary schools across the district using Starlink Internet connectivity.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 11, at the Khagrachhari Circuit House. Through this initiative, students in the hill tracts will gain access to uninterrupted, high-speed Internet connections, enabling participation in online classes, digital content, and virtual learning activities. As a result, even students from remote areas will be able to join mainstream education despite geographical challenges.

Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BSCL, and Shefalika Tripura, Chairman of the Khagrachhari Hill District Council, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. BSCL’s General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, Senior Manager Hamed Hasan Muhammad Mohiuddin, along with officials of the Hill District Council and concerned engineers, were present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman said, “The government has always been committed to improving the education system in the hill regions and promoting technology-based learning. This initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter in fulfilling that commitment. It opens a new window of possibilities in the educational landscape of the hill tracts. By enhancing the quality of education through technology and expanding access to information technology, the government is advancing toward building a skilled population.”
