The Bangladesh selection round of the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO) 2026 was held on Saturday, 11 October, at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), University of Dhaka. Organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), the competition saw talented students from across the country participate in a five-hour Kaggle challenge focusing on artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision.

Open to students from grade six to HSC 2025 and up to the fourth semester of polytechnic, the competition provided participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and technical skills by solving real-world problems.

Selected competitors from this round will attend the IAIO Grooming Camp, where they will receive international-standard training and mentorship. Subsequently, they will join directly selected participants from the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BdAIO) to represent Bangladesh at the international IAIO 2026 in Slovenia. Reporting for the competition began at 8:00 AM, with the main event starting at 9:00 AM and concluding at 2:00 PM.

Last year, Bangladesh made its world debut at the IAIO in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, winning two silver and two bronze medals. This achievement marked a significant milestone in the country’s progress in artificial intelligence and technology education. Building on that success, the Bangladesh team is preparing to reach even greater heights this year.
