Marking the holy month of Ramadan, the Chhatra Dal unit at University of Rajshahi has launched a ‘Ramadan Helpdesk’ to support students observing the fast. Separate booths have been set up at Sheikh Russell Field and the Shaheed Minar premises on campus. On the first day of Ramadan alone, nearly 50 students reportedly received services from the helpdesk.

The initiative provides essential facilities for Iftar participants, including plastic sheets for seating, knives and chopping boards for cutting fruits, large and small bowls for mixing Iftar items, water bottles, arrangements for supplying safe drinking water, and garbage bags for waste disposal.

In addition, arrangements have been made for offering prayers after Iftar. Organizers have also taken steps to ensure that leftover waste is cleaned and disposed of properly in designated dustbins.

The program officially began on Thursday, February 19, under the initiative of S. M. Mahmudul Hasan Mithu, Organizing Secretary of the RU Chhatra Dal unit. Leaders and activists who took part in managing the booths include Publicity Secretary Md. Ar-Rafi Khan; Joint Organizing Secretaries Naimul Islam Naim and Zakir Hossain; Health Affairs Secretary Md. Ariful Islam; Science Affairs Secretary Nasim; Zia Hall student leaders Siam and Zahid; Shah Makhdum Hall student leader Altafin; and Sohrwardy Hall student leader Nishan, among others.

Chhatra Dal leaders said the helpdesk service will continue throughout the month of Ramadan to facilitate students. They also noted that the scope of services may be expanded based on need.

Speaking on the matter, University unit Publicity Secretary Md. Ar-Rafi Khan said they had undertaken a similar initiative last year and successfully served students. Maintaining that continuity, he added, the helpdesk services will continue throughout the entire month of Ramadan this year as well, Insha’Allah.
