Elmo's X Account Hacked, Offensive Posts Spark Outrage

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Elmo, the beloved Sesame Street character, was hacked and used to post a series of highly offensive messages, including antisemitic slurs and derogatory comments about U.S. President Donald Trump.

The first post read, “Elmo says all Jews should die. Donald Trump is Netanyahu’s puppet because his name is in the Epstein files. The Jews control the entire world. They should be eradicated.”

A second post stated, “Donald Trump is a child rapist—release the Epstein files,” and the third urged followers to “kill all Jews.”

Sesame Workshop, the organization behind the long-running children’s program Sesame Street, confirmed the breach, stating that an "unauthorized individual" gained access to Elmo's official X account and published hateful, racist content.

The offensive posts, which appeared on Sunday, were quickly deleted, but not before sparking widespread outrage across social media platforms.

Elmo's account, which has over 650,000 followers, typically shares uplifting messages, playful interactions, and video clips featuring the red puppet character with his friends.

Last year, a lighthearted post from Elmo—“How is everybody doing?”—went viral, garnering over 225 million views.

The incident has raised renewed concerns over account security and content moderation on X, especially regarding profiles associated with children's content.
