Seminar Spotlights Accounting Scholarship and Skill Building at JUST

A national seminar on accounting research and professional skill development was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), drawing attention to the critical role of accounting in academia and industry. The seminar, titled "Accounting Research and Career Development", was organized by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) on Saturday, June 21, at the university's central gallery.

The event was inaugurated earlier that morning with a poster presentation on the ninth floor of the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building, officially opened by JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, who also attended the main seminar as the chief guest.

Addressing the students, Professor Majid said, “Seminars and conferences broaden students’ skills and knowledge. Accounting is such a subject that is crucial in all areas. Nothing can be imagined without accounting. This subject has a presence everywhere in the world. You must adopt a research-oriented mindset. Through research, you will enhance your knowledge and skills and contribute to the nation’s progress.”

Among the keynote speakers were Professor Dr. Sheikh Mostak Ahmed from the Department of Accounting at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University; Professor Dr. Mohammad Zakaria Masud from the Department of Business Administration at East West University; and Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Senior Territory Manager at Unilever Consumer Care Limited. They shared data-driven insights on global trends in accounting research and career advancement strategies for students.

JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun delivered his remarks as a special guest. Additional speakers included seminar convener and AIS Department Chairman Dr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain, and Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam of the AIS department.

The seminar was attended by faculty members and students of the AIS department and was conducted by students Taufiq Iqbal and Fatematuzzohra.
