Zubaida and Zaima has no Facebook accounts
Fake Profiles Fuel Propaganda Against Tareque's Family, Claims BNP
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has alleged that a coordinated campaign of misinformation is being spread on social media platforms using fake profiles targeting Dr. Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and their daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.
At a press conference held on Thursday, June 5, at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi raised these concerns publicly.
“A criminal syndicate is conducting a deliberate smear campaign against Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Barrister Zaima Rahman using fake social media identities,” Rizvi said. “In many cases, they are using AI-based techniques to fabricate content.”
He clarified that neither Dr. Zubaida nor Barrister Zaima maintains a Facebook account or any social media presence. “Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Barrister Zaima Rahman have no Facebook IDs,” he asserted.
Rizvi further claimed, “A vested group is designing a blueprint to malign the Zia family. We will take legal action against this.” He also criticized law enforcement authorities, stating, “The law enforcement agencies are not taking any steps to curb this menace.”
The BNP’s remarks come amid growing concern about the misuse of artificial intelligence and fake profiles in online political propaganda.
