Huawei's High-Powered AI Chip 'Ascend 910D' Undergoing Tests

China's technology giant Huawei is preparing to test its new and most powerful artificial intelligence chip, the 'Ascend 910D,' according to the Wall Street Journal. The report states that Huawei has already begun discussions with some Chinese tech companies to test the technological capabilities of this chip. The news was reported by Reuters.

Huawei expects that their new Ascend processor will be even more powerful than Nvidia's H100 chip. The first batch of samples is expected to be available by the end of May.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Huawei might begin large-scale deliveries of its advanced Ascend 910C chip as early as next month.

Chinese companies have long been working to create alternatives to Nvidia’s high-performance AI chips. However, due to U.S. sanctions, many of Nvidia’s advanced products, including the H100 and the new B200 chips, are banned from being sold in China.
