Integrating Technical Education with Mainstream Learning: Education Adviser

Education Adviser CR Abrar expressed his intention to integrate technical education with mainstream education while improving the quality of education. He made this statement at a seminar titled "Enhancing the Quality of Technical Education: Possibilities and Necessary Actions in the Global Context," held on Monday (April 28) at the International Mother Language Institute Auditorium in the capital.
CR Abrar said, "It is necessary to integrate technical education with mainstream education because technical education is often undervalued. This education system is often referred to as a factory for making craftsmen. We need to break free from such negative perceptions."
Referring to the long-standing neglect of technical education, the adviser said, "Structural reforms are needed here. There is a significant shortage of trade-based teachers in educational institutions. There is also a lack of essential skills and new technologies. Steps must be taken to make technical education more relevant."
The Education Adviser emphasized the need to focus on technical education as an alternative, noting that many graduates remain unemployed despite having received education, and jobs are not available for them.
He further mentioned, "The students went through trauma during the July movement. As a result, their behavior will be different. We cannot expect normal behavior from everyone," he said. "In such cases, we must teach them gently and with care."
He also added, "We are going through a complex time. In this situation, we must all exercise patience. Our demands should be presented with respect, and we must create a space for dialogue."
The seminar was chaired by Dr. Kh M Kabirul Islam, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division. Other distinguished guests included Siddique Jobair, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Nasreen Afroze, Chairperson (Secretary) of the National Skills Development Authority, and Shoaib Ahmad Khan, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education.
