E-CAB’s Youth Leader Detained by Intelligence Police, Later Released

Mohammad Rakib Hasan, the former president of the Youth Forum Standing Committee of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), was detained by intelligence police while returning from a picnic on unspecified allegations and a controversial photograph. He was released approximately seven hours later, at around 1:00 AM on Wednesday.

Sources indicate that Rakib was detained due to a photograph featuring him with Shomi Kaiser, the former president of E-CAB, who is currently incarcerated. However, he was eventually released from the allegations brought against him under the so-called “Devil Hunt,” as his anti-fascist posts and photos during the July Revolution movement were deemed insufficient grounds for charges.

Meanwhile, most of the individuals who attended the picnic remained present at Pubail Police Station from the moment Rakib was taken into custody in an intelligence police microbus until his release. They demanded that those responsible for falsely accusing innocent individuals be brought to justice.
