Hands-on engineering laboratories, technical coursework, and academic research remained paralyzed as the student unrest at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) entered its tenth consecutive day. On Thursday (October 1), the student-led shutdown coincided with a fifth day of work abstention enforced by the university’s faculty members and administrative staff.

Beginning at 8:00 AM on Thursday, students took positions at the main entrance gate to enforce a strict complete shutdown. The demonstration brought all academic functions to a standstill, suspending class lectures, laboratory research, and scheduled examinations.

Simultaneously, university teachers staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the Vice-Chancellor's residence starting at 11:00 AM. Combined with the non-cooperation of university officers and employees, the faculty strike completely disrupted administrative workflows and campus governance.

To mark the tenth day of agitation through creative student activism, demonstrators organized a photo exhibition and a protest concert before the VC residence. It will be Running from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the exhibition to display visual documentation of the past nine days of student mobilization. The protest concert will be followed at the same venue starting from 6:00 PM.

Civil Engineering third-year student Moumota Datta Priya stated that the protests will continue until former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem is reinstated. She noted that the photo exhibition and concert highlighted the resilient student voice while condemning the administration’s silence, affirming that the campus movement will persist until their demand is met.

According to institutional sources, the continuous shutdown commenced on September 22. In pursuit of their demand for the reinstatement of Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, students had earlier organized torch processions and shown red cards, leaving the technological institution facing an ongoing academic deadlock. //DBTech/CHEH/SMP/BV//
