Global e-commerce giant Amazon is set to host its much-anticipated shopping event, Prime Big Deal Days, on October 6 and 7. The two-day event has been announced to give customers an opportunity to shop at discounted prices ahead of Black Friday, the year’s biggest shopping sale.

Amazon said special discounts will be available across more than 35 product categories. Once the sale begins at the scheduled time on October 6, new offers will be added three times a day under the “Today’s Big Deals” banner.

Alongside leading brands such as Shark, Anker, Sony and LEGO, Amazon’s own Kindle and Echo devices will also be available at significant discounts.

To make the shopping experience easier, Amazon has integrated its smart assistant Alexa into the event. Users can instruct Alexa to send deal alerts when discounts become available on specific products.

Users can even set a target price for a product they want. If the price falls to that level after a discount, Alexa can automatically purchase the product on the user’s behalf. The voice assistant can also check whether any items on the user’s previously created shopping list are currently available at discounted prices.

In addition to technology products, the event will feature deals on kitchenware, fashion, cosmetics and household goods, as well as clothing and accessories for the upcoming Halloween celebration under a “Top 100+ Deals” section.

However, with the excitement of the sale, every offer may appear attractive. Analysts therefore recommend using digital price-tracking tools such as CamelCamelCamel or Keepa to check a product’s previous prices before making a purchase. Although the main sale will begin in early October, some early deals have already gone live on Amazon.
