JASHORE: The Annual Badminton and Table Tennis Competition 2026 (Men & Women) commenced amid vibrant participation at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). The inter-departmental athletic fixtures were officially inaugurated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at the university's Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman Gymnasium.
Presiding over the inauguration, Dr. Abhinu Kibria Islam, Director of the Department of Physical Education, formally opened the tournaments. Addressing the participating cohorts, Dr. Islam stated, "Beyond regular academic curricula, structured sports are indispensable for the holistic mental and physical development of students. Winning or losing remains secondary; the lasting takeaway from competitive athletics is the cultivation of discipline, mutual respect, and sportsmanship. While on-court rivalry will be fierce, genuine camaraderie must endure off the court." He added that despite logistical and equipment limitations, student enthusiasm drives campus athletics, reaffirming the administration's goal to facilitate sports year-round.
The session was addressed by Prof. Dr. Mrityunjoy Biswas, Convener of the Inter-Departmental Badminton Organizing Committee; Prof. Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin, Convener of the Inter-Departmental Table Tennis Organizing Committee; Dr. Md. Majnuzzaman, Convener of the Badminton Sub-Committee; Dr. Shaibal Chanda, Convener of the Table Tennis Sub-Committee; and Abdullah-Hel-Kafi, Deputy Director of Physical Education.
The event saw the attendance of JUST Proctor Dr. Md. Hamidur Rahman, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Dr. Rafiul Hasan, Provost of Munshi Meherullah Hall Dr. Abdur Rouf Sarkar, Assistant Director Uzzal Chandra Sutradhar, and physical instructors Md. Jahangir Alam and Md. Raihan Rakib, alongside faculty members and students across diverse disciplines. The opening ceremony was conducted by Md. Abdul Wahed, Assistant Director of the Department of Physical Education.
