JUST Launches First Student Handbook

Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has officially unveiled its first-ever ‘Student Handbook’ prepared for students of 38 departments under eight faculties for the 2025-2026 academic year. The handbook has been designed to simplify academic and administrative activities and provide students with essential information on university services, rules, policies and opportunities in one place.

August 16, Sunday, the handbook was formally unveiled at a special event held at 10:30am in the conference room of the university’s administrative building. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Iarul Kabir attended the event as the chief guest and unveiled the handbook.

The university said the handbook would play an important role in guiding new students through different stages of university life. It includes a brief history of the university, its achievements at national and international levels, citizen charters of all offices, departments and units, profiles of all academic departments and the academic calendar.

The handbook also contains the academic ordinance, rules of the Controller of Examinations Office, policies for using the library and laboratories, scholarships and financial assistance, residential hall management and disciplinary regulations, along with other essential information for students.

Speaking as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Iarul Kabir said the initiative was taken to make academic and administrative activities easier for students. He said the first-ever handbook would save students’ time and make the university campus more student-friendly.

He said the handbook would help new students gain a clear understanding of the university, the services available to them, and what they should and should not do during their university life.

The university administration said printed copies of the handbook would soon be distributed among students of the 2025-2026 academic session across all departments.

Imran Khan; Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology Professor Dr. Sheikh Mizanur Rahman; Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman; Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Md. Korban Ali; Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science Dr. Mariam Jamila; Dean of the Faculty of Health Science Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Reza; and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Professor Dr. Md. Ziaul Amin.

Also present were Professor Dr. Md. Majnuzzaman, Provost of Shaheed Mosiyur Rahman Hall; Dr. Farhana Yasmin, Provost of Bir Pratik Taramon Bibi Hall; Dr. Md. Abdur Rauf Sarker, Provost of Munsi Meherullah Hall; and Nityananda Pal, Deputy Registrar (Academic).

The event was moderated by university Registrar Kazi Md. Jalal Uddin.
