President Md. Sahabuddin has urged the members of the President's Guard Regiment (PGR) to ensure state security by acquiring technology-driven capabilities with the highest level of professionalism and discipline. The Head of State made the remarks as the chief guest at the function marking the 51st raising day of the PGR at Dhaka Cantonment today, Sunday.

Stating that the government is committed to developing the armed forces as a modern four-dimensional force, the President said, "The concept of security is changing rapidly in the present world. Along with conventional security risks, cyberattacks, the misuse of artificial intelligence-based technologies, and various hybrid security threats are creating new challenges."

To address these challenges, he emphasized enhancing tech-based capabilities, intelligence analysis, and round-the-clock preparedness. The President expressed hope that the PGR would evolve into a more efficient and capable force in the future through modern technology, international-standard training, and professional excellence.

He noted that the security of the heads of state and government, as well as local and foreign dignitaries, is deeply intertwined with national security and state dignity. Therefore, he stressed the need for effective coordination among law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, and relevant ministries to make the security system foolproof.

In his speech, President Md. Sahabuddin paid deep tribute to the five PGR members who sacrificed their lives during the martyrdom of President Ziaur Rahman at the Chittagong Circuit House on May 30, 1981, as well as all other members who passed away while performing their duties.

The President also paid homage to the martyrs, heroic freedom fighters, and biranganas of the Great Liberation War. He recalled with respect the contributions of the proclaimer of independence, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Furthermore, he prayed for the salvation of the souls of those killed in the July-August mass uprising and expressed deep sympathy to the injured.

The event was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, the Acting Chief of Naval Staff, Secretaries of Bangabhaban, senior military and civil officials, the PGR commander, and personnel of all ranks.
