Grameenphone Appoints Andreas Högberg as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer
Leading telecommunications and technology service provider Grameenphone has appointed Andreas Högberg as its new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer (CSTO). The operator announced his appointment on Tuesday, June 2, adding him to its management team’s top leadership positions.
According to Grameenphone, Högberg assumed the role on June 1 and will lead the company’s strategic transformation initiatives while overseeing the execution of its long-term five-year strategy. In an era shaped by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, he will focus particularly on driving organizational transformation through artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation, setting strategic priorities, and ensuring sustainable growth and future readiness.
As CSTO, Högberg will play a pivotal role in strengthening Grameenphone’s competitive position, enhancing operational efficiency, and accelerating its transformation into a more digitally capable telecommunications and technology service provider.
The newly appointed executive brings more than 21 years of experience within the Telenor Group, spanning finance, technology, and shared services functions across the Nordic region, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Grameenphone, he served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Telenor Pakistan from June 2023 to December 2025.
In addition, he currently serves as a board member of Telenor Procurement Company. Over the years, he has provided strategic support to Grameenphone, Telenor Pakistan, and Telenor Myanmar while holding several senior leadership positions. He also served as Vice President of Technology and Services, where he led global investment-prioritization initiatives across the Telenor Group.
Academically, Högberg studied at the Norwegian School of Economics and completed executive education programs at IMD, INSEAD, and Stockholm School of Economics.
Welcoming Högberg to the leadership team, Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, said that Bangladesh’s telecom market presents both complexity and opportunity, driven by a changing regulatory environment and growth prospects in data, digital services, IoT, B2B solutions, and security services.
“As the industry undergoes rapid transformation, customers are shifting from voice to data services while increasingly demanding personalized offerings, security solutions, and cloud-based services,” he noted.
The CEO expressed confidence that Högberg’s strategic vision and leadership in the AI era would help Grameenphone navigate this transformation ahead of competitors and further strengthen its market-leading position in an intensely competitive landscape.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining the company, Andreas Högberg said that Grameenphone is well-positioned to accelerate sustainable growth, supported by its strong foundation and leadership position in the dynamic Bangladeshi market.
He added that his primary focus would be on aligning strategy with disciplined execution, deepening customer-centricity, and developing solutions that genuinely enrich customers’ digital lives while delivering consistent long-term value for shareholders.
