MetLife Powers Sustainability with Solar Energy
MetLife Bangladesh is now generating up to 10 percent of its electricity requirements through renewable energy, having installed a 104-kilowatt on-grid solar power system at its headquarters in Motijheel, Dhaka.
The initiative reinforces MetLife’s commitment to energy conservation, efficient resource utilization, and sustainable business operations. Providing insurance services in Bangladesh for more than 74 years, the company has continued to improve its workplace environment through modernization and environmentally responsible transformation.
The installation of the solar power system aligns with Bangladesh’s national goals for expanding renewable energy adoption. In this regard, commercial rooftop solar installations are expected to play a significant role in increasing the use of clean energy across the country.
Commenting on the initiative, Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, said, “We place great importance on operating our business and delivering services in a sustainable manner in Bangladesh. By generating up to 10 percent of the electricity required at our headquarters through solar power, we have demonstrated that progress and environmental protection can go hand in hand.”
The project was technically implemented by the Business Division-4 of Sena Kalyan Sangstha in compliance with stringent national grid connectivity standards and regulations.
