Digital Dialogue: Bangladesh–US Talks Focus on ICT, Cybersecurity, and Connectivity

United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen, paid a courtesy call on Fakir Mahbub Anam, the Minister to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The meeting was held on Tuesday, 31 March, at the office of the Posts and Telecommunications Division at the Secretariat. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States. In particular, discussions were held on expanding mutual cooperation in information technology, digital connectivity, cybersecurity, and the telecommunications sector.

The minister stated that the current government is working toward building a Digital Bangladesh, and in this regard, cooperation from the United States is extremely important. He stressed the need to increase investment in the ICT sector and enhance the exchange of knowledge and technology.

The ambassador praised the progress of Bangladesh’s information technology sector and assured continued cooperation in this field in the future.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed optimism about working jointly on various issues of mutual interest.

Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdur Naser Khan, Embassy Economic Officer Joe Boski, and Political-Economic Counselor Eric Gillan were also present at the meeting.
