Fake Photocards Using Hanif Sanket’s Name Circulate on Social Media
Several fake photocards using the name of renowned TV presenter and producer Hanif Sanket, known for “Ityadi,” have been circulating on social media, raising concerns. Among them, a photocard titled “Sheikh Hasina is not a fascist; Sheikh Hasina is the artist of building Bangladesh” has been verified and proven false by Rumor Scanner.
Since 25 March, multiple fake photocards have been widely shared across social media platforms. These cards feature Hanif Sanket’s image alongside various statements attributed to him. Some of the posts also include political comments, which quickly went viral online. Addressing the issue, Hanif Sanket shared a statement on his verified Facebook page regarding the misleading photocards.
In his post, he wrote: “Friends, I have long been emphasizing through my program that sharing or posting anything on social media without verifying its authenticity is not only wrong but also a crime. Unfortunately, some well-wishers recently brought to my attention several photocards circulating on Facebook.”
He further stated that although the texts in those photocards were written in a rhythmic style imitating his presentation style, he has no connection whatsoever with them. “It is deeply unfortunate that many people are sharing, commenting on, and liking these photocards without any verification,” he added.
Highlighting his four-decade-long career, he noted that he has worked to promote healthy culture and social responsibility while maintaining neutrality and independence without any political affiliation. He emphasized that his authentic statements, quotes, or photocards are only published through his verified platforms and recognized media outlets. “In this era of technological advancement, we must be more aware of its misuse. I urge everyone not to be misled by information from unknown, unfamiliar, or unverified sources, and not to spread such misinformation,” he wrote.
Following his post on the afternoon of 26 March, Rumor Scanner verified and debunked the photocard on 27 March.
