Fusion of Flavors and Future: Food, Agri-tech and Health Expo Enthralls Dhaka

The International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka is currently hosting a three-day exhibition showcasing cutting-edge advancements in medicine, food, and agricultural technology. Organized by SEMS-Global USA, the expo has added food processing as a new category this year, drawing significant interest from visitors—especially for the wide array of local and international delicacies on display.

On the second day of the event, Friday, attendees showed particular enthusiasm for culinary exhibits featuring diverse potato dishes and an assortment of coffees. Alongside the exhibition, ICCB’s Noboratri Hall hosted international seminars, including a vibrant barista competition sponsored by Kiva Han in the morning.

The day also featured an Espresso Masterclass, where participants were guided through the journey of coffee from seed to cup. One attendee reported no discernible taste on their first sip, while another found the coffee bitter until four teaspoons of sugar were added to achieve the desired sweetness.

Mishkat Hossain, branch manager of Arabica Coffee Shop’s BRAC University outlet, explained, “The flavor of coffee depends on maintaining a balanced ratio between the coffee machine and the grinder.”

A seminar arranged by Swisscontact focused on export opportunities in unconventional markets for Bangladesh’s small and medium-sized enterprises. Speakers included Samareh (Sammi) H. Naeimi, Director of Land O’Lakes Venture37; Rakib Hossain, Deputy General of SME Foundation; and Billal Hossain, CEO of the Bangladesh Agro Processors Association (BAPA).

Another seminar spotlighted innovation, with speakers such as Ishrat Jahan Ima, Business Development Manager at BTL Bangladesh; Mohammad Zunaid, Branch Manager; and Srinivas Reddy, Senior Vice President of SS Innovation International. The keynote presentation was delivered by Martin Kubika, Asia Regional Director of BTL Bangladesh.

The exhibition features a wide range of products and services, from seeds and processed food to technology and homegrown crafts. Akij Agro & Livestock presented various food grain seeds, while Fargo Food Ltd. displayed ready-to-eat items. The United Group stall attracted attention with its export-quality mangoes, lychees, and guavas. Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) showcased honey, mustard oil, ghee, and a variety of handmade products.

The food, agriculture, and plastic industry expo includes participation from over 100 companies across 250 booths, representing more than 10 countries, including Bangladesh, Türkiye, India, Singapore, Germany, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and China.

Simultaneously, a separate health and medical expo is offering advanced healthcare services and medical tourism opportunities. Exhibitors such as Genesis IVF are offering fertility consultations, while hospitals and healthcare professionals from over 15 countries—including Bangladesh, India, China, UAE, Singapore, Germany, Türkiye, Thailand, South Korea, and Sri Lanka—are participating with more than 150 companies across 350 booths.
