Middle East Security Situation Cancels 34 Flights at Dhaka Airport
Amid the ongoing security situation in the Middle East, 34 flights were cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday, March 5. With this, a total of 210 flights have been cancelled over the past six days.
The information was confirmed by Kawsar Mahmud, an official of the Public Relations Department of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
He said that due to the security situation in the Middle East on February 28, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan closed their airspace. As a result, 23 flights were cancelled on February 28, 40 flights on March 1, 46 flights on March 2, 39 flights on March 3, and 28 flights on March 4 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Among the flights cancelled on Thursday, four were from Qatar, four from Kuwait, four from Jazeera (Kuwait), 10 from Air Arabia (Sharjah, United Arab Emirates), four from Emirates, two from US-Bangla, two from Gulf Air (Bahrain), and four from Flydubai (United Arab Emirates).
