NRB Global Convention 2025 Concludes in Style in Banani
The NRB Global Convention 2025 concluded in a grand ceremony at a hotel ballroom in Banani, Dhaka, celebrating the achievements and contributions of non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) from around the world.
As part of the convention, 30 distinguished individuals were honoured with the Global NRB Award 2025 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education, healthcare, technology, real estate, banking and entrepreneurship. Notably, nearly half of the award recipients were entrepreneurs and professionals from the technology sector, underscoring the growing global footprint of Bangladeshi technologists.
Among the awardees, Engineer Abubakar Hanif, Chancellor of Washington University of Science and Technology and Founder of PeopleNTech, was honoured for his exceptional contributions to global education and skills development.
Hemi Hossain, CEO of NextGen Global Group and an international speaker, received recognition for global leadership in technology, education and digital innovation.
For excellence in technology and business leadership, Engineer Iftekharul Alam (NRB CIP), Director of Friends Realty Limited, was honoured, while Md. Riaz Uddin, Founder and CEO of VeloxPay (Australia), received the award for NRB Fintech Innovation and Leadership.
In the healthcare and social development category, Preeti Chakraborty, Chairman of Universal Medical College and Hospital, was recognised for her outstanding leadership in healthcare, education and women’s empowerment. Dr. Ishrat Jahan, Managing Director of Aesthetic Hub Limited, was awarded for leadership in medical innovation and aesthetic healthcare.
The Global Leadership and Strategic Innovation Award went to Asif R Chowdhury, Senior Vice President of Amkor Technology Inc. The Visionary Leadership and Innovation Award was presented to Golam Faruk Bhuiyan, Chairman of GFB Group of Industries, while Engineer Mo Khan, CEO of Alloy Metals Company, was recognised for business leadership and innovation.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur attended the event as the chief guest and formally handed over the award crests to the winners. Also present were Sheikh Moinuddin, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser; US-based Bangladeshi-American ICT entrepreneur and innovator Aziz Ahmed; NRB World Founder Enamul Haque Enam; and Daffodil Family Chairman Sabur Khan, among others.
For global impact in defence, infrastructure and economic development, Tanvir Mahmud, President and CEO of AIMEX LLC, was honoured. Najda Alam, an educationist and social activist, received the award for global public service and civic leadership.
Awards were also presented across diverse sectors, including architecture and sustainable tourism, real estate and community development, luxury automotive services, manufacturing sustainability, commerce, hospitality, diaspora leadership and public service. The recipients included prominent figures such as Architect Md. Mizanur Rahman, Mominul Haque, Habib Ullah Don, Dr. Md. Shadi-uz-Zaman, Mohammad Belayet Hossain, Hasanuzzaman Hasan, Ahsan Habib, Councillor Jahangir Haque (Raj), Khaled Ur Rahman, and Mahin Abedeen, among others.
Additionally, Ahsan Zaman Chowdhury, Managing Director and CEO of Trust Bank PLC, along with leaders from the export and banking sectors, received the NRB Global Excellence Award for their contributions to remittance leadership, diaspora banking and industrial growth.
The convention highlighted the pivotal role of NRBs in driving innovation, investment and sustainable development, reinforcing their contribution to Bangladesh’s global standing and economic progress.
