Spotify Restores Service After Two Global Outages in One Day
Spotify suffered a major global service disruption on Monday, with two separate outages affecting millions of users worldwide. Shortly after recovering from the first technical issue, the popular music streaming platform experienced a second widespread outage that temporarily disabled both its mobile app and official website.
Services Affected
The unexpected disruption prevented users from streaming music, searching for songs or albums, signing in to their accounts, and accessing playlists or account settings. Many users encountered error messages when attempting to use the Spotify app or website.
Thousands of users reported the outage on Downdetector, a website that monitors internet service disruptions, while many others took to social media to express frustration over interrupted music playback and inaccessible services.
Spotify's Response
After initially announcing that the first outage had been resolved, Spotify's official support account on X (formerly Twitter) reported another round of technical issues at around 3:00 p.m. The company said its engineers were investigating the problem and asked users for their patience while providing links to customer support resources.
Following approximately three hours of troubleshooting, Spotify confirmed that the technical issues had been resolved and that all services had returned to normal. Reports of outages on Downdetector also declined rapidly as users around the world regained access to the platform.
