Apple to Introduce Ultra-Thin 'iPhone 17 Air' Later This Year
Apple is set to introduce a new "Air" edition to its iPhone lineup, possibly named the iPhone 17 Air, according to a report by renowned tech analyst Mark Gurman. The new model, expected to launch in the latter half of this year, will be significantly slimmer, resembling the MacBook Air, while balancing high-end features with affordability, as reported by TechCrunch.
Gurman noted that making the iPhone even thinner posed a major challenge for Apple’s engineers, particularly in reducing the battery size without compromising performance.
The report also revealed that Apple initially considered making the iPhone 17 Air completely portless, relying entirely on wireless technology for charging and data transfer. However, due to European Union regulations mandating USB-C ports on all smartphones, Apple has temporarily shelved the idea. Nonetheless, speculation remains that a portless iPhone could be introduced in the future.
