International Conference on 4IR organized by UGC on 10 December
A two-day international conference titled 'Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond' organized by the Bangladesh University Grants Commission- UGC will begin on December 10 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.
The UGC is organizing the conference to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden jubilee of independence.
His Excellency Md. Abdul Hamid, President, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh will deliver his speech online and will declare the opening of the conference on December 10. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the closing ceremony on December 11 as the chief guest on a virtual platform.
UGC Chairman Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahidullah will preside over the conference while Education Minister Dipu Moni MP, Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury MP will be the special guest and Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Md. Mahbub Hossain will be present as the guests of honor.
The conference will be attended by the country's leading academics, technologists and researchers, including three Nobel laureates (Oliver Hart, Konstantin Novoselov, Takaaki Kajita) and seven world-renowned scientists.
A press conference was organized today (December 7) at the UGC Auditorium to highlight the overall preparations for the International Conference. UGC chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah; UGC member Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor. Md. Sajjad Hossain, Professor. Muhammad Alamgir, Professor Dr. Biswajit Chanda, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher; Secretary of the Commission and Heads of Departments were present at the press conference.
UGC Chairman Prof. Kazi Shahidullah said that a network of communication among national and international level academics and researchers would be created through this conference. At the same time, a bridge of cooperation will be built between the industrial and commercial institutions and the institutions of higher education.
He further said that the conference will determine the tasks of the country's higher education institutions to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and harness its potential. Managing the various technologies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution will require proper knowledge and skilled human resources. He said that the country's higher education institutions have to play a leading role in creating this skilled human resource.
In his written speech at the press conference, Prof. Sajjad Hossain, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference on 4th Industrial Revolution, said that the conference was aimed at solving existing problems in various fields of national life including 4IR technology - artificial intelligence, IoT, data analytics, blockchain and cloud computing.
It is to be noted that a total of 06 main articles will be presented in this conference. A total of 100 research papers will be presented in 21 technical sessions. At the conference, a number of tripartite MoUs will be signed between the UGC and higher education institutions with the representatives of industry and commerce organizations to conduct joint cooperation activities with the industrial institutions of the country.
In addition, "Mujib Centenary Idea Competition-2021" and "Mujib 100 Art Exhibition-2021" have been organized to spread local innovations worldwide.
