Eastern University will play a role in making Smart Bangladesh: Deputy Minister of Education
Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Naufel said that under the robust leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has achieved a revolution in the spread of modern information technology by implementing this vision in 2021. Now Hon'ble Prime Minister's dream is to turn Bangladesh into 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. Eastern University will play an important role in creating that Smart Bangladesh.
The deputy minister opined so while speaking at the seventh convocation ceremony of Eastern University at the International Convention City Bashundhara-ICCB in the capital on Tuesday (September 19). He presided over the function which started at 12 noon as the representative of the President and Chancellor. Gold medals were given to 10 students who obtained the highest CGPA from four faculties out of 3109 students who completed their graduation from the fall semester of 2019 to the spring semester of 2023.
Among them, Abdullah Al Asif of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department and Israt Jahan Sana of Business Administration (MBA) Department received the Chancellor's Gold Medal. Three students were awarded the Chairman's Gold Medal. They are - Md. Omar Farooq of the Law Department, Noor Nazlima Jahan of English Department and Md. Aminul Islam of MBA Department.

Five graduates from four faculties received the Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal. They are Alif Al Rahman of English Department, Nadia Hossain Usha of BBA, Abu Raihan Bhuiyan of CSE, Marufa Ferdowsi of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department and Tanveer Mahtab of Law Department.
The convocation speaker was the former chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission and the former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, Emeritus Professor Dr. AK Azad Chowdhury. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Eastern University Mohammad Ali Azzam spoke on the occasion. Eastern University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hussain delivered his welcome speech on the occasion.
Congratulating the students who got certificates and gold medals in the convocation ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury said, this country and society have brought you to this stage today. So you owe it to the country and society. If you can do the welfare of the country with your acquired knowledge, talent and thinking, that debt will be repaid to some extent. Never get discouraged in adverse situations, keep courage in mind. Remember, to reach the pinnacle of success you must have perseverance, hard work and love for work.
Convocation speaker Professor Dr. AK Azad Chowdhury said, today's graduates will represent tomorrow. Therefore, he urged the graduates to play a role in building an ideal society by being inspired by the mantra of justice, morality and patriotism.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Eastern University Mohammad Ali Azzam said that the country has progressed in the field of education; its foundation was laid during the era of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. His privileged daughter Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also wants to ensure higher education for all. So she is working sincerely to build a beautiful educational structure.
The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hussain expressed his gratitude to the University's Board of Trustees, teachers-students, officials-employees, advertising agencies and journalists of local and national media for the successful completion of the seventh convocation. . He wished the convocation recipients all the success in life. At the end, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda Treasurer of Eastern University delivered his speech by thanking everyone.
