With engineering research laboratories and technical classrooms completely shuttered, the student movement at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) spilled over into the weekend. Marking the eleventh consecutive day of demonstrations, students brought out a protest rally on Friday (October 2) at 2:00 PM starting from the university central mosque premises.

The march moved past the campus Swadhinata Chattar before concluding at the Central Shaheed Minar, where demonstrators chanted slogans urging the immediate reinstatement of the former Vice-Chancellor.

Addressing the gathering, fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student Zulqarnain Mihad stated that despite eleven days of continuous agitation, no official response has been received from higher authorities, prompting the weekend rally. He noted that all academic coursework, laboratory sessions, and examinations remain suspended until their demands are met, urging prompt intervention and a favorable resolution from the administration and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Sharing similar concerns, fourth-year Mechatronics Engineering student Orindam Dey explained that the post-prayer rally was organized against administrative inaction. He remarked that students remain stranded in uncertainty and seek an immediate resolution, directly appealing to Tarique Rahman to intervene so engineering students can resume their academic routines. He affirmed that until the former VC is reinstated, strict shutdowns and protest marches will persist.

According to institutional sources, the continuous campus shutdown commenced on September 22. In pursuit of their demand for the reinstatement of Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, students previously staged torch marches and waved red cards, bringing academic operations at the technological institution to a standstill, based on inputs reported by Ebad Hossain.
