BAU Badhan Hosts 'Cha Chakra 2026' to Drive Voluntary Blood Donation

Anchored by the foundational motto "One's blood is another's life, let blood be the bond of soul," the voluntary blood donors' organization 'Badhan', H. S. Suhrawardy Hall Unit at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), organized 'Cha Chakra 2026' for the freshman intake of the 2025–26 academic session. The engagement session was held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at the hall's common room.

The initiative was designed to raise clinical awareness regarding voluntary blood donation, clarify eligibility criteria, and familiarize incoming students with Badhan’s humanitarian relief and emergency blood-matching workflows.

The session commenced with freshers introducing themselves, detailing their respective academic faculties and verified blood groups. Badhan organizers subsequently presented an overview of the organization's institutional background, operational mechanisms, and public health impact driven by the BAU Zonal Council and affiliated residential hall chapters.

Presiding over the gathering, Badhan Suhrawardy Hall Unit President Md. Limon Mia remarked, "Working within Badhan reveals the profound reality that an individual's voluntary blood donation can directly salvage a dying patient's life. Beyond inspiring our freshman peers to become regular donors, this initiative aims to cultivate empathy, community responsibility, and selflessness. We believe today’s orientation will inspire these newcomers to consistently champion humanitarian service throughout their university lives."

Reflecting on the event, freshman participant Nazmul shared, "Participating in this session offered profound perspective on voluntary donation. Previously, I viewed it merely as an extraction of blood, but now I recognize it as an essential, life-saving intervention. I am committed to donating regularly and mobilizing my peers to do the same."

Speakers highlighted public health themes centered around the messages "Every Blood Donor Is a Hero" and "Every 4 Months You Have the Opportunity to Touch Someone’s Heart," outlining the physiological regeneration benefits experienced by regular donors. The event concluded with an open Q&A clearing technical queries, followed by a competitive blood awareness quiz that awarded the first, second, and third-place winners.

The program was attended by representatives from Badhan Central Council, BAU Zonal Council, hall unit advisors, student coordinators, and residential freshmen.
