Huawei and the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka (CIDU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) skills development and industry-academia collaboration. Under the agreement, CIDU will continue its regular activities while also operating as a Huawei ICT Academy. Huawei will provide CIDU students with free access to online-based AI training programmes.

The MoU was signed on Monday (August 17) at the Chinese Enterprise Job Fair held during ‘Sino-Bangla Day 2026’ at the University of Dhaka. Huawei Bangladesh disclosed the information in a press release sent to the media on Monday.

Ma Ben, Managing Director of Public Affairs at Huawei South Asia, and Dr. Yang Hui, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Under the agreement, CIDU students will have free access to Huawei’s online AI training programme. The programme will cover fundamental mathematics, concepts of artificial intelligence, intelligent cultural computing, AI ethics and applications, AI technologies and applications, and Huawei’s AI processor development, among other areas.

Ma Ben said, “Huawei is committed to strengthening industry-academia collaboration in Bangladesh’s ICT sector while creating new opportunities for young people. Together with CIDU, we want to enhance students’ AI skills so that they can prepare for the future and accelerate the country’s development.”

Dr. Yang Hui said, “The opportunity to take well-designed AI courses and obtain international certification will further enrich our academic activities. Through this, students will gain greater knowledge of modern technologies and international standards. We believe this joint initiative will improve the training of CIDU students and encourage more students to consider AI as a promising career field in the future.”

Huawei ICT Academy serves globally as a bridge between industry and educational institutions. Through such university-based initiatives, it helps narrow the gap between academic learning and practical workplace skills, enabling students to benefit from opportunities in the digital economy.

At the job fair, Huawei also collected CVs from interested students. This gave students an opportunity to learn about career opportunities at Huawei and apply directly for positions. Every year, many fresh graduates join Huawei, gaining professional experience while developing their careers.
