Saudi Arabia Eager to Invest in Bangladesh Tech Sector

Saudi Arabia has expressed a keen interest in making substantial investments in Bangladesh’s information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, and agro-based industries. The announcement came during a high-level courtesy call by Saudi Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed El-Khereiji, on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday (August 4).

The leaders discussed scaling up bilateral ties, expanding technology transfers, and fostering clean energy partnerships.

Highlighting Bangladesh's emerging status as a tech hub, Minister El-Khereiji noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, a favorable investment climate has been established. Saudi Arabia aims to capitalize on this by expanding investments into high-tech domains like AI, cloud computing, and green energy, alongside food processing and traditional trade.

He also commended Bangladeshi personnel for their vital technological and manual contributions to Saudi Vision 2030, while extending congratulations to Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st UN General Assembly.

In response, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that the historic relationship between the two nations is rooted in mutual trust and strategic alignment. He reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to building a modern, tech-driven economy and invited Saudi conglomerates to invest heavily in solar power projects and smart infrastructure. The meeting concluded with a formal invitation to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit Saudi Arabia, which he accepted warmly. Senior cabinet ministers including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, State Minister Shama Obayed, and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present.
