Home Minister Vows to Transform Police into a Tech-Savvy, Humane Force

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has pledged to transform the Bangladesh Police from a tool of political suppression into a highly modern, tech-savvy, and humane public service institution.

He made the remarks as the chief guest today, Sunday (August 2), during the passing-out parade of the 27th BCS (Police) Batch (1st Phase) held at the Sarada Police Academy Parade Ground in Rajshahi.

Highlighting the importance of technical expertise in combating digital crime and cyber threats, the Minister urged young police officers to position themselves as trusted guardians of the public.

"Preserving the spirit of the Liberation War and the sacrifices of the 2024 student-led mass uprising, young officers must lead from the front to establish a democratic and discrimination-free Bangladesh," Ahmed stated. Congratulating the batch for overcoming 18 years of administrative deprivations, he stressed strict adherence to the chain of command, rule of law, and a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

A total of 58 probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) completed their intensive six-month basic training, which commenced on February 1, 2026. Following the parade, these officers will be attached to various units of the Bangladesh Police for practical field training.

The Home Minister distributed awards among top-performing probationers: Parade Commander & Best Probationer: Probationary ASP Dr. Md. Nurul Huda Bhuiyan (won both 'Best Probationer' and 'Best in Field Activities').

Best Academic Award: Probationary ASP Abu Numan Mohammad Khairul Islam. Best Shooter: Probationary ASP A.B.M. Mamun.

High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Bangladesh Police attended the graduation ceremony.
