CUET–NSI Collaboration Explores Satellite Research Horizons

To explore potential areas of research collaboration, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Japan’s New Space Intelligence Incorporated (NSI) held a “Research Scope Exploration Meet” on Monday, September 15, at CUET’s Academic Council Room.
The session featured Dr. Nick Barua, Director of Marketing and Business Strategy at NSI, as a resource person, while Dr. Masahiko Nagai—Founder and Chairman of NSI, Director of the Center for Research and Application for Satellite Remote Sensing in Japan, and Professor at Yamaguchi University—joined the meeting online.
The discussion focused on a potential agreement between CUET and the Naga Lab of Yamaguchi University. Also present at the event was Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, former Vice-Chancellor of CUET, RUET, and USTC. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of CUET’s Directorate of Research and Extension.
Speaking as the chief guest, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya emphasized the significance of satellite research:
“Satellite research is crucial for understanding and connecting with our Earth and the wider universe. It provides vital information for weather forecasting, environmental monitoring, climate change analysis, telecommunications, navigation, resource management, and disaster response. Satellites also support space exploration and open pathways for advancements in national and public security.”
He further added, “The future of satellite technology is immensely bright and full of potential. With satellite constellations, space-based 5G networks will ensure rapid data transfer worldwide, guaranteeing seamless connectivity even in remote locations.”
