Human Mobile Devices (HMD), the parent company of Nokia mobile phones, has officially commenced its journey in the technological market of Bangladesh. The European-based tech giant has started marketing its own branded mobile phones in Bangladesh through Salextra Limited, a leading national technology product distributor.

As the company's debut product, the budget-friendly feature phone 'HMD 101' has been launched in the local market. The device is being manufactured locally at Salextra's own production facility. The phone was officially unveiled on 7th July,Tuesday at the Mom In Hotel in Bogura, in the presence of distributors and retailers from the northern region.

On Thursday, July 9, HMD informed a massive number of people in Bangladesh still rely on feature phones for their daily communication. Additionally, due to long battery backup and digital detox benefits, many professionals and travelers prefer feature phones as secondary devices. The new phone has been engineered keeping the specific needs and technological demands of these users in mind.

In terms of technical specifications, the 'HMD 101' features a 1,000 mAh battery, which the company claims will provide up to seven hours of continuous talk time on a single charge. The device is also equipped with a dual LED torch, a built-in MP3 player, wireless FM radio, and an automatic call recording feature. Its storage capacity can be expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card.

Vivek Khandelwal, General Manager of HMD's Emerging Asia region, stated, "Bangladesh is a highly significant market for us. Our goal is to deliver reliable technology to consumers at an affordable price without compromising on quality."

Kazi Al Amin, Business Manager of HMD Bangladesh, added, "Feature phones remain the primary medium of communication for millions in the country. Starting the journey of HMD 101 from North Bengal holds special significance for us. This phone perfectly blends Nokia’s trusted durability with HMD’s modern features."
