Elon Musk’s space and artificial intelligence company, SpaceX, has reportedly achieved a remarkable milestone in global financial markets, briefly overtaking Amazon in market valuation and emerging as the world’s fifth most valuable company.

According to market reports, SpaceX’s valuation climbed to $2.9 trillion during trading on Tuesday, only days after its stock market debut. At one stage, the company’s market capitalization reportedly approached that of Microsoft, highlighting extraordinary investor enthusiasm.

SpaceX entered the stock market last Friday with a valuation of approximately $1.7 trillion. Within just four trading days, its market value increased by nearly $1 trillion, driven by strong demand for its shares.

Market analysts attribute part of the surge to SpaceX’s announcement of plans to acquire AI-powered coding company Cursor. The deal is reportedly valued at around $60 billion and will be financed through SpaceX shares.

Investors were also encouraged by reports of data center and computing infrastructure agreements involving SpaceX and leading AI firms such as Anthropic and Google.

Despite the market excitement, financial comparisons reveal a stark contrast between SpaceX and more established technology giants. While Amazon generated approximately $720 billion in revenue and $78 billion in net profit last year, SpaceX reportedly earned just over $18 billion in revenue and recorded a $4.9 billion loss.

Analysts suggest that investors are placing significant confidence in Elon Musk’s long-term vision of building a trillion-dollar AI ecosystem, rather than focusing solely on the company’s current profitability.

Another factor contributing to the sharp share-price movement is the limited availability of SpaceX stock. The company reportedly made only 4 percent of its total shares available for public trading, creating heightened volatility in the market.

On Tuesday alone, around 300 million SpaceX shares changed hands on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Although the share price retreated later in the session, reducing the company’s valuation to approximately $2.6 trillion by the close of trading, the dramatic rise further underscored Elon Musk’s influence on global technology and financial markets.
